Yet no national awards exist to celebrate them. Existing platforms focus on fine dining and high-profile venues, ignoring the family-run restaurants and community staples that keep the industry alive.

The Eastern Eye Restaurant Awards were created to fill that gap — recognising resilience, impact, and authenticity over publicity or scale.

For over three decades, Eastern Eye has championed British Asian achievement across politics, business, and culture. Its credibility makes it uniquely placed to spotlight excellence in this overlooked sector.

Built with input from chefs, operators, and trade experts, these awards reflect the industry as it truly is — hard-working, essential, and long overdue for national recognition.

Shailesh Solanki has over 30 years’ experience in consumer and business journalism. An economics graduate, he is the executive editor of the Asian Media Group, overlooking the editorial function of the group’s titles, Eastern Eye, Garavi Gujarat newsweekly, Asian Trader, Pharmacy Business, Asian Hospitality, and GG2 Power List.
Shailesh is also responsible for the group’s US publishing business, based in Atlanta, Georgia.
